When you are determined to do something in your life, nothing is going to stop you and you will have the sky is the limit to explore, Utpal Mehta is such a strong woman and an example to those who are looking to explore the entrepreneurship journey. 

MUDRA COMPASS (M): Briefly describe your nature of work, experience and presence.

UTPAL MEHTA (UM):  I have been working in the banking and a financial field for the last 17 years. I am handling HNI/Corporate Clients and that is my expertise as well.

M: What encouraged you to start your business/profession?

UM: When I was doing a job in this sector, I have realized that I have a very limited scope to grow personally as well as professionally. Meanwhile, I also thought to establish my own identity hence I have decided to start something of my own, and I am providing Banking and Financial services.

M: What type of struggles/problems did you face as an entrepreneur? What has been your learning from them and how did you overcome them? Anything from your personal life that may have impacted you professionally?

UM:   A Struggle is a part of an everyday business but due to my family support it is quite easy for me to overcome. The market is now-a-days is competitive and working in that is challenging, so I always make sure to be updated with current ongoing, current domain knowledge and latest trends in my field so that I can give the best solutions to my clients. One more thing in this field is when you are not offering the service which a customer demand then you must have to explore that and add it to your portfolio. In a nutshell, you have to be updated on a day-to-day basis by learning and growing new things.

M: What were the essentials needed to start your business or pursue your profession?
UM
: In my point of a view, one must has domain knowledge of a particular field to start the business. Beside this one must keep them updated on a day-to-day basis.

M: How did you identify the opportunity in the market?

UM: Hard work always pays back. Some customers are loyal or some are not, so it is your call to provide the best of service to each one and that gives you a great opportunity to establish your foot in the market.

M:  What makes you unique as an entrepreneur? Anything from your personality that has helped you professionally?

UM: My industry specific knowledge, a negotiation skill makes me unique as an entrepreneur. Beside this my working expertise to provide unique solutions to corporate and HNI clients makes me stands out in the market.

M: What has been your learning from entrepreneurship/ your profession?

UM: The journey of an entrepreneurship is like the sky is the limit; it is your call that you can take a maximum benefit of this journey. Besides this I have learned that to keep the entrepreneurship journey is going, you must learn on an everyday basis which will help you in your personal life as well.

M: Any advice to anyone starting up or budding/aspiring entrepreneurs?
UM:
I have seen that many people come into the financial industry, but they are not surviving for a longer period of time and quit the industry soon. My advice to budding entrepreneurs is that don’t lose patience if you want to grow and survive in industry to achieve.

M:  Any awards won? If yes, Mention.

UM:  I have won many awards from Insurance Company & Customers for maintaining a good portfolio, the highest business volume, and the best customer services and also achieved many foreign trips from banks and insurance. 

M: Any Message for Society.

UM: To survive in any industry, one needs patience and knowledge. This will also help you in your personal life beside professional life.

M: Any Suggestions for Government.

UM: The Government must has to focus on the mutual fund industry especially on mutual fund distributors as the government is getting the highest earnings from the mutual fund industry but levies high taxes on distributors which are resulting in non-survival of distributors. In my point of a view, the government must has to focus on mutual fund distributors and make some plan for their survival.

My advice to budding entrepreneurs is that don’t lose patience if you want to grow and survive in industry to achieve.
