Success is not meant for one time, and you cannot get in one go when it comes to executing a completely new idea which needs your hard work with a consistency in your efforts in a successful execution. This is the perfect blend to get success and this is what Shimoli Shah, Owner of La Fabuloso living with and now an inspiration to many who want to take up an entrepreneur journey in the field of make-up art and wedding industry.

MUDRA COMPASS (M): Briefly describe your nature of work, experience and presence.

Shimoli Shah (SS): Currently, I am the owner of La Fabuloso and a freelance makeup artist. I am a computer engineer and have done master’s in business analysis from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Other than that I have done my makeup training from AOFM London.

M: What encouraged you to start your business/profession?

SS: After my master’s, I always wanted to do something in the field of business and entrepreneurship. So I came up with this unique idea of bringing the famous places of the world to Ahmedabad itself which can serve both the purposes- getting photo-shoots done without travelling abroad and fulfilling people’s wish who always dreamt of visiting outside India. On the other hand I have always been passionate towards makeup since childhood and even while I was doing my computer engineering. And so this encouraged me to move towards being a makeup artist.

M: Whom do you consider as your inspiration/idol professionally and why?

SS: My idol is my Father who has always been supportive and encouraging towards whatever decision or field I chose. He is goal oriented and full of dedication towards work have been the reason behind the setup of La Fabuloso.

M: What type of struggles/problems did you face as an entrepreneur? What has been your learning from them and how did you overcome them? Anything from your personal life that may have impacted you professionally?

SS: During the Initial stage of setting up of La Fabuloso, we faced problems in getting the exact materials for all the sets as we wanted our sets to be civil structured and not fiber ones. Second we wanted to spread words for the La Fabuloso throughout Gujarat, but as it was a new and conceptual idea it became a bit difficult to explain the concept to everyone personally. But eventually I learned that consistency is the key to success and for that we should never give up.

M: What were the essentials needed to start your business or pursue your profession?

SS:  The only essentials required for being a makeup artist is good teaching and experiences. I have personally attended many makeup workshops which helped me grow into this field. Talking about La Fabuloso, my father is an architect so here we both have worked together to execute this idea. I came up with the sets and places which I have already visited and seen, is now the beauty at La Fabuloso and my father did the execution part from designing to finding the manpower and designers. Everything was done with the help of my father.

M: How did you identify the opportunity in the market?

SS: Not even a single year goes without a wedding. Wedding business always grows. Hence, I grabbed the opportunity to merge both of my profession for the same field. Bringing all the sets here at one place saves the cost of destination photo-shoots, and you can fulfill your dream at whatever place you wished to visit by being on the same land.

M:  What makes you unique as an entrepreneur? Anything from your personality that has helped you professionally?

SS: My dedication towards work and always open to learning new things has professionally helped me in building up my career.

M: What has been your learning from entrepreneurship/ your profession?

SS: Nothing has a limit, is what I believe. You need to be open and accept the changes whatever comes through your door. This might help you in your progress and in the work you do.

M: Any advice to anyone starting up or budding/aspiring entrepreneurs?

SS: I want to advise the budding entrepreneurs out there to take risks and be willing to fail because nobody succeeds in the first go.

M: Any awards won? If yes, Mention.

SS: Have been in media coverage for La Fabuloso- Sandesh, Ahmedabad Mirror and Divya Bhaskar

M: Any Message for Society.

SS: Don’t judge anyone from their outer look. Everyone has their own struggles to fight with which cannot surpassed.
